More At Stake

I found myself more engaged in worship last night.  I was sitting through my third service of the day...same band...same songs....same teaching....same teacher.  Yet at the same time I found myself more engaged.  There was a surge of redemptive energy flowing through my veins.  Maybe it was because my wife, Tami was sitting beside me.  She still has that affect on me.  Sorry Tami I think that help, but frankly I found myself more engaged because sitting beside Tami was two friends who don't always attend church. 

Then it hit me...Why are some people more engaged then others when it comes to our weekend services?  It's simple they have more at stake.  If you really want to inject new life into your own personal worship then make your worship about someone else.  That's right invite a disconnected friend to church and then watch God work.  I promise you your worship will be infused with power, expectation, desire, excitement, anticipation, energy, etc.

Back From Malawi

No, I didn't stop blogging...I spent the last two weeks in Malawi.  Malawi is one of those National Geographic type places in the south central part of Africa.  If you are a Madonna fan or not you may have heard of it and Kendal Orphan Outreach...she was recently there. 

For the the last two weeks I have worked each morning learning the trade of a brickmason the traditional African way, going from village to village participating in indigenous youth programs designed to care for the needs of AIDS orphans, hiking through the African bush on foot encountering wild elephants, and trying my skills at shopping the city markets.  Did I mention sleeping on a concrete floor for two weeks and the 38 hours of travel flying, sitting in airports, and shuttling from one place to the other it took to get home. 

It's good to be back...there are a lot of church planting stuff going on...I can't wait to tell you about.
